Michael Gulezian (gu-LAY-ze-in) is one of the most highly acclaimed solo acoustic instrumental guitarists of our time. He’s a phenomenal technical guitarist with the rare ability to transcend his own virtuosity, creating music that touches and moves people at the deepest level – boundary-free, mind-opening, emotionally imbued, radiant, horizon-expanding, spiritually inspired, conformity-crushing, fearless, genre-bending, transcendent, soulful, kickass, deliriously joyful, exquisitely gorgeous instrumental solo acoustic guitar music – music that quite literally defies description. Fred Kraus, of Minor 7th .com recently wrote that Gulezian “might be the most accomplished pure guitarist on the planet.” He’s been called the musical link between John Fahey and Michael Hedges. Artists as diverse as Michael Hedges, Willy Porter, and Henry Kaiser have claimed him as a primary musical influence; young lions Erik Mongrain, Andy McKee, and Trevor Gordon Hall are quick to acknowledge him as an inspiration. In concert, Michael is all warmth and humor … and though it’s visually breathtaking to watch him perform, a concert with Michael is more than a display of cutting-edge virtuosity – it is the passionate communion of master musician engaged with his audience in the mystery of self-revelation, creating music of atmospheric power, ecstatic joy, and haunting beauty. Michael has an online audience at Pandora of 10,000 monthly listeners, and 16 million cumulative streams. If you enjoy the artistry of musicians such as Leo Kottke and Michael Hedges – guitarists who amaze us technically but also touch the soul – then you will love Michael Gulezian
Magical Frybread Drive-in Aitkin!
Arts and culture collective Fire in the Village, led by Anishinaabe artist and musician Annie Humphrey, is pleased to announce our Summer 2026 Mini Mobile Music Fest, the Magical Frybread Drive-in.
Frybread came from struggle and hard times for the people (Anishinaabe) who were forced off their lands and onto reservations to live on rations. Flour, lard, salt ... Frybread is a symbol of Aanishinaabe outlasting them (The industrial ruling class).
Join us at the mobile Magical Frybread Drive-in to be inspired, fed, and empowered.
There will be frybread (of course), printmaking, poets and musicians speaking and singing their truth. Thinking for themselves. Join us, let’s be coherent together!
Each Magical Frybread Drive-in is a mobile mini music festival. It starts with social time of frybread & printmaking, followed by a music / poetry / spoken word concert. The spirit of the people is what makes it magical.
“Poetry is free, as it is freeing, much like dancing.” - Brian Babb, Performer at the Magical Frybread Drive-in
“We will outlast these times we’re in… Harder times on the horizon.” - Annie Humphrey, Performer and Frybread Maker and Fire in the Village Director
Shows will take place in Minneapolis and small towns in the northland where Fire in the Village has been building relationships and real connections.

Sam Miltich
Miletići: New Music From The Old CountryTickets $20 suggested, no one turned away for lack of funds!Miletići: New Music From The Old Country is Sam Miltich's newest musical project. The name Miletići is the plural of Sam and Matthew Miltich's traditional Croatian last name Miletic' and the name of the village where Matthew's father was raised as a child. This new ensemble focuses on music from Dalmatia, The Balkans, and the broader Eastern and Central European region. The band draws their repertoire from traditional Tamburica (Tamburitza) and Romani Cocek music from the Balkans, Klapa music from Dalmatia, and Jewish Klezmer and traditional Slavic folk songs from Central and Eastern Europe. The band is composed of Sam Miltich as the leader playing both guitar, tambura, and singing vocals, Matthew Miltich on upright bass and vocals, Mark Kreitzer on mandolin and guitar, and Tony Balluff on clarinet. What sets this ensemble apart from other traditional folk ensembles is that all of the band members are full time jazz musicians. Miletici puts new twists on old music by infusing the band's love of improvisation into traditional music. You might hear traditional Dalmatian Klapa music played with a latin-jazz groove, Klezmer songs played in an American-swing rhythm, or open improvised solo sections on a Romani Cocek from Macedonia. It is this spirit of improvisational exploration that truly sets this ensemble apart. We hope you will join us and enjoy a new modern take on traditional classics from the eastern half of Europe.Sam Miltich is a self-taught jazz guitarist born and raised in the woods of northern Minnesota. Sam burst on to the hot club jazz scene in his teens, joining Paul Mehling's Hot Club of San Francisco and touring internationally with the world-renowned Robin Nolan Trio. Sam's fluid and instinctive sound has graced hundreds of stages, from small towns on the Iron Range to New York's Lincoln Center. In addition to fronting his own band, the Clearwater Hot Club, Sam frequently performs solo and has recorded and performed with many of the Twin Cities' top jazz artists. Morningbird - Live at Sampaguita
Friday, October 17th! Morningbird will be back!
Morningbird is a powerhouse quartet (sometimes trio) with an eclectic vibe. Multi-instrumentalists Jill Burkes (vocals, violin, guitar) and Josh Palmi (vocals, guitar) bring a rare chemistry to their performances. Supplemented by Shane Kingsland on Bass and Jim Pietila on Percussion, the band creates a seamless fusion of folk, rock & country stylings. Rooted in an authenticity that is both grounded and free spirited, their music has been described by critics as folk-Americana, sometimes offering a gospel edge or Appalachian harmonic structure. The group is string driven, performing traditional & original song.
“They're musicians from the Iron Range of Minnesota & right from the start their style's a refreshingly modernized throwback to duos & groups of the 60s and early 70s that carved out the more acoustic folk-storytelling songbook.”
-Americana Highways
“There's driving passion to their songs and the intertwinging vocals simply shine.”
-Americana UK
“Listening to Echoes in the Meadow, MorningBird's new long player, is like wandering through the story of roots music. At every turn, they engage in all its broad forms, are influenced by its sounds and styles, tackle all manner of sub-genre and geography, play with its history and heratage, and, as a result, also help secure its future."
-The Big Takeover
